Our mission statement: To
produce and sell profitably the highest quality beef in America,
focusing on natural standards, customer service, adding value,
and ethical practices.
Montana Legend is your tie to a select group of small farmers
and ranchers in the Rocky Mountain West who raise beef the old
fashioned way: focusing on best-taste, not least-cost. Started
by a ranching family who has raised beef in south-central Montana
since 1901, the Montana Legend producer group now has nineteen
ranchers and farmers, all working together to provide consumers
drug-free, all-natural, Angus beef—directly off the ranch.
We are a family business.
We painstakingly control every step of the “birth-to-market”
process in-house, thereby ensuring gourmet quality and consistency
in every cut of beef. For instance, we carefully monitor and
control aspects such as:
- How the natural calves are raised on our producer's
ranches.
- How the cattle are finished on grains.
- How the natural beef is cut and packaged.
- How the natural beef is warehoused and trucked.
- What kinds of restaurants, delicatessens, and supermarkets
carry our product.
In contrast, the commercial beef industry has tens of thousands
of producers who sell to thousands of finishers who sell to
several big, multi-plant packers, who sell to distributors,
who then deliver to retailers.
If you buy beef commercially, you don't know where it was
raised, what was added to it, and who handled it from field
to market. In fact, most people would be surprised to know
that an average of six owners stand between the final consumer
and the actual product in the commercial beef business!
